Big Sky™ Sunset Coneflower, Hybrid Coneflower
Big Sky™ Sunset is a compact coneflower with fragrant blossoms. Its flowerheads have a brown cone and exotic salmon orange petals. This hybrid was created with a cross of the common purple coneflower with the Ozark coneflower.
Plants grow best full to partial sun and rich to average soil with good drainage. They are not overly water thirsty, but do check to make sure the soil is never too dry.
Big Sky ™ coneflowers all attract bees and butterflies and provide seeds for hungry birds in the fall and winter months. Deadheading spent flowers keeps plants looking clean and attractive and will encourage continued flowering—though it is nice to leave a few seedheads for the birds. Coneflowers will self-sow and make welcome additions to sunny perennial borders or butterfly gardens.
