General Description

Flore Pleno hemp agrimony is a pretty perennial with attractively shaped leaves, colorful stems and long-lasting, double flowers in summer and early fall. Considered a European wildflower, this plant is also native to extreme northern Africa and western Asia. The compound leaves have between three to five leaflets arranged in a hand-like shape, resembling cannibis. By mid to late summer, the reddened stems support the lavender-pink flowers. Insects, especially bees, will visit the double flowers, but are not so favored by butterflies in comparison to the single-flowers of the species.

Hemp agrimony appreciates moisture in the acidic or neutral soils that it grows. Full sun to partial shade is acceptable, but be aware the more sun it receives, the more important it is to have enough soil moisture. Planty of moisture will also help extend the flowering. Plant this perennial in low, wet spots in meadows, along a stream or lakeside. This cultivar can be slightly aggressive and will be most annoying if planted in small, formalized gardens.
