Helping You Become a More Successful Gardener
FRAGARIA x ananassa( FRAGOO™ PINK, FRAGOO™ SERIES)
Garden strawberries are hybrid perennials prized for their sweet, aromatic red fruit. The seed-propagated variety Fragoo™ Pink provides a non-stop display of attractive flowers, foliage, and berries. It grows from seed to bloom in about 75 days. This pink-flowered, "day-neutral" strawberry was introduced by Syngenta Horticultural Services, Lisle, Illinois.
Like most garden strawberries, this cultivar spreads by runners to form expanding mats of three-lobed leaves. It produces conspicuous pink blooms throughout the growing season (pausing only for hot spells). The flowers ripen to small conical red berries, which are good for fresh eating. This variety flowers and fruits year-round in mild climates.
Garden strawberries thrive in full sun and moderately fertile, moist, acidic to neutral soil. They are vulnerable to numerous pests and diseases, which should be monitored and controlled if necessary. Fragoo™ strawberries work well as container and groundcover plants.
