Helping You Become a More Successful Gardener
FRAGARIA x ananassa 'Sequoia'
Garden Strawberry, Strawberry
Garden strawberries are hybrid herbaceous perennials grown for their sweet, aromatic red fruit. Widely acclaimed for its intensely flavored fruits, 'Sequoia' bears very large, sweet, tender-fleshed berries from as early as midwinter to as late as midsummer in mild climates. Like most garden strawberries, it spreads by runners to form expanding clumps of three-lobed leaves.
A highly adaptable cultivar, 'Sequoia' succeeds in many regions (including California and the Northwest U.S.) if sited in ample sun and fertile, moist, well-drained soil. It is a good choice for culinary gardens, containers, or "strawberry towers".
