Plant Common Name

General Description
Grown for its compact form and intoxicating blooms, Heaven Scent® is a great choice for containers and beds. This robust small shrub has lush, medium-sized leaves, a rounded habit and wonderfully fragrant flowers.
East Asian in origin, gardenia is a superb evergreen shrub for gardens in mild winter climates. Its neat, dense form and glossy, dark green leaves provide landscape interest all year around. From late spring to summer Heaven Scent™ produces many large, single, waxy flowers that are ivory with pale yellow centers. These emit a powerful, pleasing fragrance that permeates the garden.
Acidic, evenly moist soils with good drainage are crucial for plant health and successful blooming. Gardenia grows best in full to partial sun and needs good air circulation to discourage foliar diseases. Though more cold tolerant than most, in colder temperate zones Heaven Scent® should be container grown and overwintered in sunny indoor locations. Whether enjoyed as a specimen plant, massed in a sweep, planted in a container, Heaven Scent™ is an excellent gardenia for the garden.
