Botanical Name

GERANIUM x oxonianum 'Bressingham's Delight'

Plant Common Name

Bressingham's Delight Cranesbill, Hybrid Cranesbill

General Description

A vigorous but relatively compact hybrid of two European species of geranium, 'Bressingham's Delight' is a hardy perennial that bears a profusion of bright pink flowers from late spring to fall frosts. The round, five-petaled flowers have purple veins and a beak-like central seed capsule. The dark, wrinkly, deeply lobed and toothed, slightly shiny, medium to dark green leaves form a neat dense mound. The leaves often stay green through much of winter.

This cranesbill grows well in sun or part shade in all but wet soils. It makes a good groundcover in light shade and also works well in beds and borders. Cut it back hard after flowering or if plants flag to encourage new growth and prevent self-sown seedlings.
