General Description

Woodcreek Purple globe amaranth is an attractive annual bedding plant that produces rounded heads of papery fuchsia-violet bracts, which resemble clover heads, that subtend puny yellow flowers. Native to Central America, the flowers make excellent cut flowers as well as dried everlastings in bouquets. As a member of the Woodcreek Series, plants mature just over knee high. They develop an erect but bushy habit with small, hairy, medium green leaves.

Plants in the Woodcreek Series are drought tolerant and do best in sites with full sun and very well-drained, but moderately fertile garden soils. Enjoy these long-blooming annuals in containers or sunny mixed borders. Start 'Woodcreek Purple' from seed after the danger of frost in the garden in a formal row for cutflower production or scattered as a meadow wildflower for a natural effect.
