Hakonechloa macra 'All Gold'
All Gold Japanese Forest Grass, Hakone Grass
Isn’t it great when the name says it all? The Hakone grass cultivar ‘All Gold’ has an neat habit and beautiful golden yellow foliage throughout the growing season.
This amazing grass for shade is a slow spreading, clump-forming, herbaceous grass that originates from the forests of Japan. It has broad, dense, golden blades that stand more upright than most other Hakone grasses. In late summer to fall it produces loose panicles of insignificant flowers.
Hakone grass performs best in partial sun to partial shade and evenly moist soil with good drainage. It is often planted in woodland or lightly shaded rock gardens and best placed along the front of a border or along the edge of a path. This grass especially is striking when planted in masses.
