HELIOPSIS 'Bressingham Doubloon' PP11270
Bressingham Doubloon Oxeye, Oxeye
The patented perennial sunflower 'Bressingham Doubloon' is a vigorous plant that produces impressive semi-double golden blooms against large lance-shaped leaves of deep green. This hybrid oxeye was bred by Alan Bloom of Blooms of Bressingham Ltd. in Norfolk, England, and is a cross between Heliopsis helianthoides var. scabra `Desert King` and an unknown pollen parent.
This tall sturdy herbaceous plant has branched stems lined with dark green leaves. In mid to late summer these become topped with large semi-double golden yellow daisies, which are highly attractive to butterflies.
Full sun and average soil with good drainage will satisfy this tough plant. It is quite tall and may require staking. Plant 'Bressingham Doubloon' in bold late summer borders with tall ornamental grasses. It is also ideal for butterfly and sunny informal cottage gardens.
