HELLEBORUS 'HGC Green Corsican' PP15641
Hellebore, HGC Green Corsican Hellebore
‘HGC Green Corsican’ is a patented hybrid hellebore which is notable for its vigor and abundant, long-lasting floral display. Emerging in late winter to early spring, its large clusters of cupped, lightly fragrant, white flowers are touched with pale green at the centers, and face upward to outward for good visibility. They bloom generously over a period of several weeks atop robust clumps of dark green, leathery, palm-like foliage. Originally bred in Glandorf, Germany, it is a cross between selected seedlings of the two European species Helleborus niger and Helleborus argutifolius.
The showy blooms of hellebore light up the garden at a time when few other flowers are present. Most prefer dappled shade and rich, moist, loamy soil which is high in organic matter. They perform best with regular moisture, but do not appreciate excessively saturated conditions. Hellebores are stunning when grouped in mixed beds, borders and woodland gardens. Their distinctive blossoms also make excellent cut flowers.
