Christmas Rose
A beautiful plant for the shade garden, this semi-evergreen herbaceous perennial is native to the mountains of Europe. The large, white, cup-shaped flowers with waxy petals and showy yellow stamens may appear in early winter or early spring, depending on the climate and the cultivar. The blooms sometimes age to pale pink. The hand-shaped, glossy, compound leaves grow directly from the ground and persist through winter.
Christmas rose grows best in neutral to alkaline soil in a shady spot. Remove the old leaves in spring when the new ones appear.
