HEMEROCALLIS 'Autumn Red'
Autumn Red Daylily, Daylily
The daylily is a reliable perennial that everyone knows and loves. The flowers of the midsummer blooming ‘Autumn Red’ are deep red with yellow midribs and wide yellow throats. They are star shaped and open during the day. Later in the season they often re-bloom, especially if deadheaded. The flowers are borne from tall clumps of bright green strap-like leaves that require some cold for dormancy.
All daylilies are easy to grow if provided full to partial sun and average soil with good drainage. Their clumps spread over time and need to be divided every three to four years. Otherwise, they require little care, though it is good to cut their foliage back if it starts to look worn in midsummer. Enjoy them in mixed beds, borders, containers and large mass plantings.
