General Description

The daylily is a reliable perennial that everyone knows and loves. The small flowers of the midsummer-blooming ‘Baby Blues’ are pale lavender with a fuchsia line topping a fading pale gray zone and a green throat. They are circular in shape, fragrant and open for an extended period of time. Later in the season they often re-bloom, especially if deadheaded. The flowers are borne from small to medium clumps of bright green strap-like leaves that that require some cold for dormancy.

Daylilies are easy to grow if provided full to partial sun and average soil with good drainage. The clumps slowly spread over time and need to be divided every two to three years. Otherwise, they require little care, though it is good to cut the foliage back if it starts to look worn. Enjoy these tried and true ornamentals in mixed beds, borders and large mass plantings.
