HEMEROCALLIS 'Bengal Bay'
Bengal Bay Daylily, Daylily
The daylily is a reliable perennial that everyone knows and loves. The flowers of the midsummer blooming ‘Bengal Bay’ are cream with burgundy to black eyezones and petal margins and contrasting green throats. They are triangular in shape with ruffled petals and open during the day. Later in the season they often re-bloom, especially if deadheaded. The flowers are borne above semi-evergreen foliage that appears in spring. The plant forms tidy clumps of bright green strap-like leaves.
Daylilies are easy to grow if provided with full to partial sun, and average soil with good drainage. Their clumps spread over time and may need to be divided every three to four years. Otherwise, they require little care, though it is good to cut their foliage back if it starts to look worn in midsummer. Enjoy them in mixed beds, borders, containers and large mass plantings.
