Liliaceae
HEMEROCALLIS 'Blueberry Candy'
Blueberry Daylily, Daylily
The daylily is a pretty and reliable perennial that everyone knows and loves. The fragrant flowers of the midsummer blooming ‘Blueberry Candy’ are cream with violet eyezones and green throats. They are triangular in shape and open during the day. Later in the season it can re-bloom, especially if deadheaded and well irrigated. The flowers arise from clumps of bright green strap-like leaves that that require some cold for dormancy.
Daylilies are easy to grow if provided with full to partial sun, and average soil with good drainage. Their clumps spread over time and may need to be divided every three to four years. Otherwise, they require little care, though it is good to cut their foliage back if it starts to look worn in midsummer. Enjoy them in mixed beds, borders, containers and large mass plantings.
