HEMEROCALLIS 'Buddhist Flame'
Buddhist Flame Daylily, Daylily
The daylily is a popular perennial admired for its reliability, ease of growth and beauty. The flowers of the midsummer blooming ‘Buddhist Flame’ are coral with raised midribs and golden yellow throats. They are day-blooming, triangular in shape and have ruffled petals. Later in the season they often re-bloom, especially if deadheaded and well-irrigated. The flowers arise from neat clumps of bright green strap-like leaves that are evergreen in southern zones.
Daylilies are easy to grow if provided with full to partial sun, and average soil with good drainage. Their clumps spread over time and may need to be divided every three to four years. Otherwise, they require little care, though it is good to cut their foliage back if it starts to look worn in midsummer. Enjoy them in mixed beds, borders, containers and large mass plantings.
