HEMEROCALLIS 'Calypso'
Calypso Daylily, Daylily
The daylily is by far one of the most popular sun-loving perennials available. It is most revered for its reliability, ease of growth and beauty. The very fragrant spider daylily ‘Calypso’ offers large blooms that are pale citron yellow. They are appear in early to midsummer, are night-blooming and have long, spidery petals. The long-stemmed flowers of this 1948 introduction arise from big clumps of green strap-like leaves that go completely dormant in winter. If well cared for and regularly deadheaded, this daylily may rebloom.
Daylilies are easy to grow if provided with full to partial sun, and average soil with good drainage. Their clumps spread over time and may need to be divided every three to four years. After plants bloom, it is wise to shear back their foliage to allow for a fresh flush of growth. Enjoy these tried and true ornamentals in mixed beds and borders, containers and large mass plantings.
