General Description

The daylily, is an herbaceous to semi-evergreen perennial that everyone knows and loves. In spring, neat clumps of bright green strap-like leaves appear. Hemerocallis 'Chicago Apache' is a medium-sized daylily which produces an abundance of circular, crimson red flowers with yellow throats, ruffled petals margins and white midribs in late season. Chicago Apache is vigorous, sunfast, tolerant to a wide variety of soils, salt and black walnuts nearby. They are also resistant to daylily rust and many other pests.

This highly cultivated genus boasts over 40,000 cultivars. All are easy to grow if provided with full to part sun, and average soil. Daylily clumps slowly spread over time and need to be divided ever two to three years. Enjoy these tried and true ornamentals in mixed beds and borders and large mass plantings.
