HEMEROCALLIS 'Just Another Yellow'
Daylily, Just Another Yellow Daylily

On first glance this daylily may seem like just another yellow-flowering selection. However, the ruffled lemon-yellow edges and floppy habit adds interest. One blossom may measure upward of 6 inches (15 cm) across. The daylily is a popular perennial revered for its reliability, ease of growth and floral beauty. The hybrid tetraploid ‘Just Another Yellow' flowers in clusters atop a tall stem called a scape. The six oval, petal-like tepals have minutely ruffled edges. The flower throat is bright green. Flower scapes rise from clumps of strappy green leaves that remain semi-evergreen over the winter months. Each blossom in the bud cluster opens in the morning and lasts no more than 24 hours before shriveling up.
The Just Another Yellow daylily was bred by Curt Hanson and introduced in 1999. The American Hemerocallis Society gave it an award of merit, and in 2006 it received an honorable mention nod in the quest to receive the AHS's prestigious Stout Silver Medal.
Daylilies are clump-forming and spread slowly via rhizomes. The blooms are commonly held in branched clusters on long leafless stems that stand above the foliage. All daylilies are easy to grow if provided full to partial sun and average soil with good drainage. Deciduous daylilies are the hardiest and survive in the coldest reaches of their range; however they may struggle in areas with mild winters. Evergreen types grow well in all but the most tropical regions but require protection where winters are harsh and cold. Their clumps spread over time and may need to be divided every three to four years. After plants bloom, it is wise to shear back their foliage to allow for a fresh flush of growth.
