HEMEROCALLIS 'Ruby Stella' PPAF
Daylily, Ruby Stella Daylily
This is a red-flowered variant of the ever popular compact rebloomer ‘Stella d’Oro.’ The flowers of the early blooming ‘Ruby Stella’ are slightly fragrant and deep red with yellow-green throats. They are day-blooming, triangular in shape and have ruffled petals. The flowers arise from neat clumps of green strap-like leaves that will remain semi-evergreen in more southern zones. If well cared for and regularly deadheaded, this daylily will bloom from late spring through summer and even into fall. Plants may stop blooming during hot spells.
Daylilies are easy to grow if provided with full to partial sun, and average soil with good drainage. Their clumps spread over time and may need to be divided every three to four years. Otherwise, they require little care, though it is good to cut their foliage back if it starts to look worn in midsummer. Enjoy them in mixed beds, borders, containers and large mass plantings.
