HEUCHERA 'Can Can'

Image of Heuchera 'Can Can'

Terra Nova Nurseries, Inc.

Family

Saxifragaceae

Botanical Name

HEUCHERA 'Can Can'

Plant Common Name

Alumroot, Can Can Alumroot

General Description

Heuchera ‘Can Can’ produces deeply lobed, frilly, burgundy leaves highlighted with a silver sheen and accented with darker veins and beet-red undersides. Small, greenish, bell-shaped flowers appear in late spring to early summer, charmingly displayed on airy panicles atop the rich foliage of this festive perennial.

Heuchera performs best in partial sun or the bright filtered shade of open, wooded landscapes. Excessive heat and sun can cause leaf burn so avoid direct afternoon sun, especially where summers are hot. Fertile, organic-rich soils with average moisture and good drainage are essential for good health. The leaves of alumroot should be cut back in spring to make way for a new flush of foliage.

This lovely hybrid adds rich foliar color to container compositions, mixed borders or woodland gardens and makes a fine edging plant or groundcover.
