General Description

All the best foliage colors from black to lime green are represented in this fabulous Dolce Series of hybrids. They are contemporary forms of Heuchera, the old fashioned perennial best known as coral bells. By crossing a number of North American native species with existing hybrids, many new bright foliage forms emerged. While they retain the same beautiful flowers of their ancestors, the vivid year around foliage color makes this one of the best plants for American gardens. This is a small clump-forming perennial bearing large, flat or ruffled leaves in black, purple and pink, chartreuse, silver and an outstanding peachy-gold. All Dolce Hybrids develop tiny tubular bright flowers in white, pink or red, that rise on fine stems above the foliage and are charming in their own right. The flowers attract hummingbirds and are suitable for cutting. Plant in humus-rich, well-drained soil and provide mulch during the heat of the summer. Though drought tolerant once established, best foliage results from regular water. Plant all colors of the Dolce series in a mosaic of foliage color beneath high tree canopies for a year around show. Make your front entry shout urban splendor by mixing these dramatic foliage textures and colors in highbrow containers.
