Heuchera 'Lime Rickey' PP16210
Alumroot, Lime Rickey Alumroot
The bright lime green foliage of this shade-loving herbaceous perennial offers bright color to woodland gardens. The vibrant leaves of 'Lime Rickey' have frilled, wavy leaves and look crisp and clean all season. It forms a neat mound of foliage from which emerges tall, thin, upright stems of tiny, nodding, white flowers. These appear from late spring into summer and are followed by unattractive brown fruits. To keep the foliage looking clean and neat, cut the old stems back once they have stopped blooming.
Heuchera performs best in partial sun or the bright filtered shade of open, wooded landscapes. Excessive heat and sun can cause leaf burn so avoid direct afternoon sun, especially where summers are hot. Fertile, organic-rich soils with average moisture and good drainage are essential for good health. The leaves of alumroot should be cut back in spring to make way for a new flush of foliage.
This lovely hybrid adds rich foliar color to container compositions, mixed borders or woodland gardens and makes a fine edging plant or groundcover. It pairs well with silvery sedges and bronze-leaved hellebores.
