HIBISCUS( CORDIAL SERIES)
Hybrid Hardy Hibiscus
This entry has yet to be reviewed and approved by L2G editors.
The Cordial Series of hardy hibiscus is a collection of hybrid plants, all with softball-sized single flowers that last for 3-4 days. Leaves gently resemble maple leaves and are green, although some have purple coloration. Flower colors range from pink to red and reddish purple. Plant growth is upright yet also broadly spreading, yet quite compact.
These hybrid hardy hibiscus should be planted in full sun in any average garden soil. Avoid highly alkaline and dry soils for best plant performance. They are slow to emerge with new growth in spring, as they require soil warmth and hot weather to really prosper. Dead stalks may be cut off after frost. In mild winter regions, the plants can be pruned back hard or repetitively pinched back for new growth and more flowers.
