General Description

The Splash Series of rosemallow boasts the plate-size flowers of the species, but on considerably shorter plants. 'Splash Yopinot Noir' bursts into flower with the heat of summer with dark red flowers. This semi-woody species of hardy hibiscus originates from the southern United States and has an upright, shrubby habit. Its leaves are large, sometimes lobed and have a soft texture. From summer to fall enormous, thick, disc-shaped dark red flowers with slightly overlapping petals open on the stems.

Rosemallow is late to emerge in the spring but thrives in the heat of the summer. It grows best in sites with full sun, and most soil types, even poorly drained soils. Japanese beetles favor its leaves, so plants must be protected while these beetles are foraging. Enjoy this large perennial in sunny borders, foundation plantings and moist garden areas. Avoid the most alkaline of soils and protect from winds to preserve best plant structure during growing season.
