Family
Malvaceae
Botanical Name
HIBISCUS rosa-sinensis 'Tangerine'
Plant Common Name
Queen-of-the-tropics., Tangerine Tropical Hibiscus, Tropical Hibiscus
General Description
Tangerine tropical hibiscus boasts large gently waving petals of a soft gold or light orange-yellow, much like a mango sorbet. The flower center eye is pink and white. Numerous light pink stripes radiate out from the eye onto each petal. A short golden floral tube matches the petal color. It also has handsome dark green leaves.
Tropical hibiscus is heat tolerant and prefers neutral to acidic, well-drained soil and full sun. A staple of both tropical and temperate landscapes, these vibrantly blooming plants can be grown in mixed borders, or in large containers that can be moved indoors to overwinter if necessary.
