Vigorous and summer-blooming, the doubled-flower selection 'Double Red' is a dense and bushy upright deciduous shrub that profusely blooms up until frost. These flowers are large and attractive, with numerous rosy-red petals that form a full flowerhead. A nice floral display continues from midsummer through autumn among the simple green leaves.
Rose-of-Sharon grows best in full to partial sun and fertile loam with even moisture and good drainage. It is easy to grow and well-suited as an informal hedge or screen. Rose-of-Sharon makes a nice addition to the background of the mixed shrub borders or may be planted as landscape specimen, showing off its tall, V-shaped form.
