Helping You Become a More Successful Gardener
HIBISCUS syriacus 'Lucy'
Lucy Rose-of-Sharon, Rose-of-Sharon
The double flowers of ‘Lucy’ are rich rose. This vigorous, summer-blooming shrub has a dense, bushy, upright habit. The attractive flowers have numerous petals that form a full, peony-like bloom. They appear through to autumn, and the lobed green leaves turn dirty yellow at season's end.
Rose-of-Sharon grows best in full to partial sun and fertile loam with even moisture and good drainage. It is easy to grow and well-suited as an informal hedge or screen. Plant ‘Lucy’ in a mixed shrub border or as a landscape specimen. Like all rose-of-Sharon, it tends to sucker but can easily be shaped with yearly pruning.
