Blue Satin™ Rose-of-Sharon, Rose-of-Sharon

Vigorous and summer-blooming, the powdery blue flowering selection 'Marina' is a dense and bushy upright deciduous shrub that is stronger growing than 'Blue Bird'. These flowers are large and attractive, with five petals colored a dusty blue, perhaps with some lavender shadows. The base of the petals are a dark red, and strongly accentuate the creamy white floral tube in the center. A nice floral display continues from midsummer through autumn among the simple green leaves.
Blue Satin rose-of-Sharon grows best in full to partial sun and fertile loam with even moisture and good drainage. It is easy to grow and well-suited as an informal hedge or screen. A nice addition to the background of the mixed shrub borders, 'Marina' is better planted as landscape specimen, showing off its uniquely colored flowers across its tall, V-shaped form. Or, keep it in a patio container to be viewed close-up and pruned to a more manageable size.
