HOSTA 'Aristocrat' PP11286
Aristocrat Plantain Lily, Hosta, Plantain Lily
A compact herbaceous perennial, 'Aristocrat’ forms tidy mounds of overlapping heart-shaped leaves that are substantial and corrugated. The center of the leaves is blue-green and the edges have a wide, irregular band of creamy-yellow to white. The flowers are lavender and funnel-shaped. They appear on tall stems held above the leaves in midsummer.
Like most hostas, ‘Aristocrat’ grows best in full to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of fertile, well-drained soils. It has average water needs and prefers even moisture. In hot and dry conditions it can develop dry leaf edges and tips. Use ‘Aristocrat’ for a contrast of leaf colors and textures in shaded perennial gardens or planted en masse as an herbaceous groundcover.
