HOSTA 'Birchwood Parky's Gold'
Birchwood Parkys Gold Plantain Lily, Hosta, Plantain Lily
Like other hostas with yellow leaves, ‘Birchwood Parky's Gold’ produces its brightest color not in full shade but partial shade to partial sun. It is an herbaceous perennial that makes a spreading clump of leaves. Golden to yellow-green, the leaves are oval, tapering, and slightly ruffled. Its flowers are lavender, bell-shaped, fertile and appear on tall, leafy, arching stems above the foliage in mid summer. The plants are neatly mounding, medium-sized and somewhat prostrate in habit.
This hosta grows best in full to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of well-drained soil types. It needs some morning sun to maintain good leaf color. It has average water needs and prefer even moisture. In hot and dry conditions the tips and edges of the leaves may wither. Use ‘Birchwood Parky’s Gold’ for contrasts of color and texture in shaded perennial gardens or group several plants for a tall, herbaceous groundcover.
