HOSTA 'Bold Edger'
Bold Edger Plantain Lily, Hosta, Plantain Lily
Hostas are herbaceous perennials grown for their attractive leaves, mounding habit, toughness, and tolerance for shade. This one, ‘Bold Edger,’ is notable for its petite size and vivid variegation. The leaves are heart-shaped and dark green with gold margins that turn to creamy white by summer. They form a dense, spreading clump. The flowers are trumpet-shaped and deep purple and open in clusters on stems that rise about the leaves.
Like most hostas, ‘Bold Edger’ grows best in full to partial shade, tolerates a wide range of well-drained soils, and prefers average, even moisture. Use it for contrasts of size, texture and color in shaded perennial gardens and woodlands, or massed as a groundcover or edging.
