Coquette Plantain Lily, Hosta, Plantain Lily
Herbaceous perennials, hostas are grown for their attractive leaves, mounding habit, toughness and tolerance for shade. This one, the pretty variegated ‘Coquette,’ is a small to medium-sized hosta that forms a neat upright mound. Its oval leaves have pointed tips and a ribbed texture. They are green and edged and streaked with white and chartreuse. Lavender bell-shaped flowers appear on leafless stems held above the foliage in midsummer.
Like other hostas, ‘Coquette’ grows best in full to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of fertile well-drained soils. It has average water needs and prefer even moisture. Use ‘Coquette’ for contrasts of sixe, texture and color in shaded perennial gardens and woodlands, or planted en masse as an herbaceous groundcover.
