HOSTA 'Crowned Imperial'
Crowned Imperial Plantain Lily, Hosta, Plantain Lily
Hostas are herbaceous perennials grown mostly for their attractive leaves, mounding habit, toughness and tolerance for shade. . This variegated hosta, ‘Crowned Imperial,’ is medium to large, fast-growing, and forms dome-shaped clumps. Its large heart-shaped leaves are deeply puckered. They are gray-green in color accented with narrow, white, irregularly-shaped margins. Lavender funnel-shaped flowers appear on tall stems held above the foliage in mid to late summer.
Like most hostas, ‘Crowned Imperial’ grows best in full to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of well-drained soils. It has average water needs and prefers even moisture. Use it for contrasts of texture and color to brighten shaded perennial gardens and woodlands, or planted en masse as a ground cover, or planted in a large container.
