HOSTA 'Fragrant Blue'
Fragrant Blue Plantain Lily, Hosta, Plantain Lily
Hostas are herbaceous perennials grown for their leaves, habit, toughness and tolerance of shade. This one, the small, upright ‘Flower Power,’ is considered to be among the bluest of the blue-leaved hostas. Its heart-shaped leaves are smooth, flat, slightly ribbed, substantial, and powdery blue,. The flowers are both fragrant and abundant. Bell-shaped, they appear atop leafless stems held above the foliage in midsummer. As the flowers age they from blue to white to lavender.
Like most hostas, ‘Fragrant Blue’grows best in full to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of well-drained soils. It prefers average water and even moisture. Use ‘Fragrant Blue’ for its size, habit, and unusual color in shaded perennial gardens and woodlands, or massed as a groundcover.
