HOSTA 'Frosted Jade'
Frosted Jade Plantain Lily, Hosta, Plantain Lily
Hostas are herbaceous perennials grown for their leaves, habit, toughness and tolerace for shade. The classic ‘Frosted Jade’ is a medium to large hosta that forms attractive, upright clumps. Its heart-shaped leaves are flat, deeply ribbed and held horizontally.. They are dark jade-green with white margins. White funnel to bell-shaped flowers appear atop leafless stems held above the foliage in midsummer.
Like most hostas, ‘Frosted Jade’ grows best in full to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of well-drained soils. It prefers average water and even moisture. In hot, dry conditions the white edges of the leaves may wither. Use ‘Frosted Jade’ for contrasts of color and habit in shaded perennial gardens and woodlands, or massed as a groundcover.
