HOSTA 'Golden Prayers'
Golden Prayers Plantain Lily, Hosta, Plantain Lily
Hostas need shade, right? Not always. This small hosta, ‘Golden Prayers,’ needs a bit of sun to develop its full glowing color. An herbaceous perennial, it is grown for its mounding habit and bright yellow leaves. They are cupped, corrugated, heavily textured and heart-shaped, with wavy edges. The flowers are pale lavender, bell to funnel-shaped and appear on leafless stems held above the foliage in late summer.
Like most hostas, ‘Golden Prayers, grows best in full to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of well-drained soils. It needs some morning sun to maintain good leaf color. It prefers even, average moisture. In hot, dry conditions the edges and tips of the leaves may wither. Use ‘Golden Prayers’ for contrasts of color, size and texture in shaded perennial gardens and woodlands, or massed as a groundcover.
