HOSTA 'Lavender Lady'
Hosta, Lavender Lady Plantain Lily, Plantain Lily
Hostas are mound-forming herbaceous perennials grown mostly for their attractive foliage. The pretty ‘Lavender Lady’ is a small hosta that forms open, spreading clumps. Its small, lance-shaped leaves are medium green in color. An abundance of pale lavender funnel-shaped flowers appear on tall leafless stems held above the foliage in late summer.
Overall, this hosta grows best in full to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of well-drained soil types. Hostas have average water needs, but prefer even moisture. In hot and dry conditions most develop dry leaf edges and tips. Pests are also a problem. Slugs and snails favor Hosta leaves and riddle them with holes, and deer will feast on them if given the chance. Hosta are best used in shaded perennial gardens or can be massed as an herbaceous groundcover.
