HOSTA 'Radiant Edger'
Hosta, Plantain Lily, Radiant Edger Plantain Lily
Hostas need shade, right? Not always. The chartreuse-leafed ‘Radiant Edger,’ and other hostas with yellow leaves, needs a bit of sun to develop its warmest colors. Hostas are herbaceous perennials prized for their mounding habit, toughness and variety of leaf shape and color. This smallish hosta has heart-shaped leaves that are a medium green with wide chartreuse margins. They have good substance, are ribbed, and form a dense clump. The flowers are lavender and funnel-shaped and appear on leafless stems held above the foliage in midsummer.
Like most hostas, ‘Radiant Edger’ grows best in full to partial shade, tolerates a wide range of well-drained soils, and prefers average, even moisture. It needs more morning sun to maintain good leaf color.Use it for contrasts of size, texture, and color in shaded perennial gardens and woodlands, or massed as a groundcover.
