HOSTA 'Regal Splendor'
Hosta, Plantain Lily, Regal Splendor Plantain Lily
What a large, elegant hosta for the garden! Regal splendor hosta, or plantain lily, is a clump forming, shade tolerant, herbaceous perennial that is primarily grown for its ornamental variegated foliage. In late spring, it produces an unusually upright clump of heart-shaped, blue-green leaves with an ivory margin. In early to midsummer upright stems of bell-shaped flowers of lavender appear. This hosta prefers part sun to part shade and fertile, well drained soil. It is widely used in mixed perennial borders or planted in masses as a groundcover for shade. Most plantain lilies are highly susceptible to slug damage.
