Helping You Become a More Successful Gardener
Hosta, Plantain Lily, Sundance Plantain Lily
Hostas are herbaceous perennials grown for their attractive leaves, tolerance for shade, toughness, and mounding habit. This one, ‘Sundance,' is a medium-sized plant with broadly ovate leaves that are dark green outlined by wide margins of creamy-yellow to gold. The leaves form a cascading clumb. The flowers are lavender and borne on tall s
capes (leafless stems) above the leaves in mid-summer.
Like most hostas, ‘Sundance’ grows best in partial shade to full shade, tolerates a wide range of well-drained soils, and prefers average, even moisture. However, it is more tolerant of sun than most hostas. Use it for contrasts of color, and texture in shaded perennial gardens and woodlands, as a specimen, or massed as a ground cover under tall trees to complement their scale.
