Family
Liliaceae
Botanical Name
Hyacinthus orientalis 'Anna Marie'
Plant Common Name
Anna Marie Hyacinth, Hyacinth
General Description
Hyacinth is a perennial bulb native to western Asia. Dense, cylindrical clusters of very fragrant, bell-shaped flowers bloom on fleshy stems in early to mid-spring, above symmetrical rosettes of narrow leaves. The cultivar 'Anna Marie' bears light rosy pink flowers on upright stems.
Plant hyacinths in sun or partial shade in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Like most bulbs, hyacinths resent "wet feet". Grow hyacinths in mixed borders and containers. They are very easy to “force,” or bring into bloom early indoors. The heavenly fragrance will chase the winter blues from any room in the house.
