Botanical Name

IMPATIENS 'Balcelbrisal'( CELEBRATION BRIGHT SALMON, New Guinea Hybrid, CELEBRATION SERIES) PP17839

Plant Common Name

Celebration Bright Salmon New Guinea Impatiens, New Guinea Impatiens

General Description

The colorful ‘Celebration Bright Salmon’ is a surprisingly heat-tolerant New Guinea impatien. It is vigorous, well-branched, and compact and offers large, vibrant flowers of glowingly salmon with a lighter center. The blooms glow against its lush green foliage, are borne in profusion and continue blooming all season without deadheading.

The New Guinea hybrids are complex crosses between several parent species including Impatiens hawkeri, Impatiens schlechteri and Impatiens platypetala. All of these tropical species are everblooming tender perennials that originate from the island of Papua New Guinea. They are favored most as bedding plants because they consistently offer lovely flowers and foliage with little bother.

Though more heat and sun tolerant than common impatiens, New Guineas do grow best in light shade, particularly in hot and humid climates. They require rich, evenly moist soil that is well-drained and need regular applications of fertilizer for best flowering. All are highly cold-sensitive, so plant them only after the threat of frost has past. They will add quick and easy color to any flower border or container. Overwatering can cause stem and root rot.
