IMPATIENS 'Visinfdkp'( INFINITY® DARK PINK, INFINITY® SERIES) PP16472
The rich pink blooms of Infinity® Dark Pink are extra large and contrast beautifully with its dark green foliage. Surprisingly, this “annual” is actually a shrubby tender perennial that will survive winters in tropical and sub-tropical zones. Members of the Infinity™ Series are high performing New Guinea hybrids that are vigorous and have bushy, well-branched habits. They were bred by Ludwig Kientzler in Gensingen, Germany and first introduced by Visio Plant based in Valverde Vega Alajuela, Czech Republic.
The succulent stems of this bushy ornamental support dark green, lance-shaped leaves. Many broad, flattened, five-petaled flowers are produced all season. They are attractive to butterflies, as well as other insect pollinators, and are followed by bulbous, green seed capsules that explode when squeezed to spread their seeds.
Grow New Guinea hybrid impatiens in locations with partial sun to partial shade. More shade is required in hot and humid climates. They grow best in well-drained, rich soil. Apply water regularly for best growth and flowering but avoid overwatering as this can lead to root and stem rot. These cold sensitive perennials are planted as summer annuals in colder zones and winter annuals or tender perennials in warmer areas. Add them to flower borders and containers for continuous, easy color.
