Family

Balsaminaceae

Botanical Name

IMPATIENS walleriana 'Accent White'( ACCENT SERIES)

Plant Common Name

Accent White Impatiens, Busy Lizzy, Impatiens

General Description

The tidy and compact 'Accent White' is a heavy-blooming dwarf selection that offers season-long color.

Good old Impatiens. They are almost everyone's favorite shade-loving bedding plants. Surprisingly, these common “annuals” are actually shrubby tender perennials in their native East Africa and will survive winters in tropical and sub-tropical zones.

Clump forming and everblooming, 'Accent White' produces many broad, flattened, five-petaled flowers from spring to fall. These are single and clean white. Its leaves are small, bright green and somewhat fleshy.

Impatiens prefer locations with partial sun to shade and moist, humus-rich soil with good drainage. If given these conditions, they are easy to grow and make outstanding additions to shaded gardens, containers and hanging baskets. In southern and western locations Impatiens are commonly planted for winter color.
