JUNIPERUS chinensis 'Fairview'
Chinese Juniper, Fairview Chinese Juniper
Juniper ‘Hetzii’ forms a tall, arching, spreading clump of thick, scaled blue-gray foliage which remains evergreen year-round. A large-growing juniper, it bears an abundance of small, purple, berry-like fruits (found on female plants) which are relished by many birds. ‘Hetzii’ is derived from Chinese juniper (Juniperus chinensis), a highly variable species found throughout China and Japan, whose diversity of form has led to the creation of numerous cultivars of different shapes, sizes and color variations.
Junipers are low-maintenance shrubs which prefer full sun and are not picky about soil fertility. Good drainage is essential, as they cannot tolerate saturated ground. The cultivar ‘Hetzii’ is an exceptional choice for cold climate hedges, visual screens, windbreaks and shelterbelts. It also makes a luxuriant dark background for high contrast foliage and flowering plants.
