JUNIPERUS chinensis 'Holbert'
Chinese Juniper, Holbert Chinese Juniper
The beautiful, evergreen, blue-tinted foliage of juniper ‘Holbert’ is attractively displayed on medium to low, wide-spreading plants, and is renowned for holding its color throughout the winter. Its small, berry-like fruit (found on female plants) are relished by many birds. ‘Holbert’ is derived from Chinese juniper (Juniperus chinensis), a highly variable species found throughout China and Japan, whose diversity of form has led to the creation of numerous cultivars of different shapes, sizes and color variations.
Junipers are low-maintenance shrubs which prefer full sun and are not picky about soil fertility. Good drainage is essential, as they cannot tolerate saturated ground. The spreading form and attractive, cool-toned foliage of ‘Holbert’ make it an ideal choice for covering slopes and dry, difficult areas.
