Juniperus scopulorum 'Skyrocket'
Rocky Mountain Juniper, Skyrocket Juniper
The tall, strikingly narrow silhouette and feathery, blue-green foliage of 'Skyrocket' stand out like an exclamation point in the landscape. A cultivar of Rocky Mountain juniper, it is well-adapted to dry, cold climates and poor, rocky soils. In areas with cold winters, this cultivar makes a good replacement for Italian cypress, to which it is sometimes compared.
Growing best in full sun, these evergreens are adaptable to a range of soils, provided they are well-drained. The statuesque, pencil-like form of ‘Skyrocket’ develops best if grown in lean, sharply-drained soils. It is a fine choice for adding structure, drama and vertical appeal to waterwise plantings and rock gardens.
