JUNIPERUS scopulorum 'Wichita Blue'
Rocky Mountain Juniper, Wichita Blue Juniper
This popular juniper cultivar is prized for its broadly-conical shape and bright, blue-gray foliage, which holds its color well throughout the winter. ‘Wichita Blue’ is a cultivar of Rocky Mountain juniper, a tough, North American evergreen that is well-adapted to cold winters and dry, rocky soils. It maintains its tidy form with little or no pruning, making it a carefree yet eye-catching addition to the landscape.
Growing best in full sun, Rocky Mountain junipers are adaptable to a range of soils, provided they are well-drained. The wide, pyramidal form of ‘Wichita Blue’ makes it a fine choice for privacy screens and windbreaks. It is also terrific for adding structure, vertical interest and year-round beauty to waterwise landscapes and gardens.
