General Description
The trailing stems and brilliant flowers of this Madagascar native look beautiful spilling from a container or wall. A succulent perennial, it has fleshy, narrowly spoon-shaped leaves paired along wiry red-tinged stems. Small clusters of bright red bell-shaped flowers with protruding yellow anthers dangle from the stem tips in spring. Flower buds sometimes develop into plantlets, which drop from the stems and root.
For best growth provide bright light and average well-drained soil. Give plants midday shade in hot areas. Withhold water for several weeks after plants bloom, and water only sparingly at other times. It tolerates only the lightest frost. This succulent is perfect for hanging baskets and other containers.
